MoRTH Announcement in 2024: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has greenlit a significant move by approving a budget of Rs 6,728.33 crore for the construction of eight stretches covering 305.50 km on NH-913, popularly known as Frontier Highway, in Arunachal Pradesh. This project, to be executed through the Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) mode, is a crucial step towards establishing an Intermediate Lane Road, as stated in an official announcement on Thursday.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari emphasized the strategic importance of this development in a post on [Social Media Platform X], highlighting its aim to bolster connectivity to border areas, ultimately fostering socio-economic progress.

Gadkari underscored the potential impact on population movement, expressing optimism that the construction of the Frontier Highway would act as a deterrent to migration while encouraging reverse habitation towards the border regions of Arunachal Pradesh.

The minister went on to explain the broader significance of these eight stretches, emphasizing their role in establishing vital road infrastructure that connects significant river basins. This, in turn, is expected to facilitate the development of numerous hydropower projects within the state.

One of the noteworthy aspects highlighted by Gadkari is the greenfield nature of this road, primarily connecting sparsely populated Upper Arunachal areas. This connection is not only strategic but also holds immense potential for tourism, projecting increased traffic in the future due to the burgeoning tourism sector.

In a separate announcement on the same platform, Gadkari revealed that the ministry has granted approval for an investment of Rs 3,549.48 crore dedicated to the construction and strengthening of various National Highways projects in Madhya Pradesh. This further underscores the government's commitment to enhancing the country's road infrastructure for sustained economic growth.
