Sikkim Yojana: In a remarkable move to blend environmental consciousness with financial security, Sikkim's Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang, has introduced the 'Sikkim Sishu Samriddhi Yojana.' Unveiled during the Jan Bharosha Sammelan 2024 in Gyalshing district, this initiative is poised to shape a prosperous future for the state's youngest generation.


Environmental Commitment: 'Mero Ruk Mero Santati' Initiative


Under the 'Sikkim Sishu Samriddhi Yojna,' parents celebrate the birth of their child by planting 108 saplings, a symbolic gesture embodying their commitment to environmental sustainability through the 'Mero Ruk Mero Santati' initiative. This dual-purpose approach not only safeguards the future financial landscape but also nurtures the ecological balance.


Financial Security for Newborns: Rs 10,800 Investment


Simultaneously, a noteworthy financial provision accompanies this eco-friendly endeavor. A sum of Rs 10,800 is deposited in the newborn's name, laying the foundation for their financial security. However, this fund is accessible only once the child reaches 18, ensuring a strategic, long-term investment in their future endeavors.


Government's Commitment to Grassroots Development


The announcement took center stage amidst a series of events organized by the Rural Development Department of the Government of Sikkim. Chief Minister Tamang, during these gatherings, distributed tokens for various schemes, encompassing the Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana, house upgradation initiatives, support for start-ups, and assistance under the Aaama scheme. Tokens for essential resources such as irrigation water tanks, pipes, power tillers, and resource recovery vehicles were also disbursed, highlighting the government's dedication to grassroots development.


Upcoming Milestones: Sanchaman Limboo College and Kyongsa Ground Inauguration


Looking ahead, Chief Minister Tamang is scheduled to inaugurate the Sanchaman Limboo College and the Kyongsa ground on March 8, further solidifying the government's commitment to education and sports infrastructure.
